On French Montana's comments regarding Kendrick,
If what's he's saying is true we should all still be listening to Duke Ellington and Etta James. Music changes as the times change. For years I have heard people say the industry has been pushing artists to produce music that puts our youth in a bad light. Now there is something fresh and original and it suddenly becomes a problem. I'm in my 50's and I along with many of my friends now buy Kendrick's music because it touches on sensitive issues we ourselves experienced in our lifetime. We were never in gangs, owned a Maybach or made it rain but we have all experienced some form of racial injustice. We can relate to Kendrick because we watch as our sons maneuver as young black men in an unjust country. Kendrick has found a new fan base of moms.
